Collective identity research and theory

The term collective identity may refer to a variety of concepts. Individuals perceive memberships in a social group which impacts upon their own iidentity in some way.

Moral panic - An intensity of feeling expressed in a population about an issue that appears to threaten in social orders which are sometimes called 'folk devils'.

Karl Marx's concept of collective identity reaches social groups by the means of production such as classes in captialism. His theory involving captialism seperates classes such as the 'Bourgeoise' and 'proletariat', high class working class. " The free development of each is the condition for the free development of all" In other words Marx wanted to point out that would ultimately be no class and no state in money.
